The Independence Fund FAQ

Our organization receives a number of questions on a regular basis. Please feel free to browse our frequently asked questions in order to see if we may have answered your question already.

  • How do I apply for assistance for an all-terrain chair or bike?

    How do I apply for assistance for an all-terrain chair or bike?

    Visit our homepage at independencefund.org and choose the “apply for assistance” tab at the top of the page.  You will then be routed to another page where you will create a login and password.  After this step is completed, be sure to check the email associated with the account you just created in order to verify your account.  If you do not verify your account via email, your account will not be activated.  Once your account is activated, you can then login using the email and password you created.  Be sure to follow the instructions and complete all (3) parts of the application.

  • What are the dates of the upcoming Independence Fund caregiver retreats?

    What are the dates of the upcoming Independence Fund caregiver retreats?

    The Independence Fund has nine caregiver retreats planned for 2018. Please check back on our website, on our events tab, for the specific dates of the retreats.

  • Does the Independence Fund provide financial support to Veterans and Caregivers?

    Does the Independence Fund provide financial support to Veterans and Caregivers?

    The Independence Fund does not provide direct financial support to Veterans and Caregivers. The only support provided by the organization is done directly through our programs.

  • When will I be notified if I have or have not been selected to attend a Retreat?

    When will I be notified if I have or have not been selected to attend a Retreat?

    Once the attendees have been selected, all applicants will be notified if there were selected for the retreat or not.

  • If I am not selected to attend one retreat can I apply for the next retreat?

    If I am not selected to attend one retreat can I apply for the next retreat?

    If you are not selected for one retreat we do encourage you to apply for another retreat.  The Independence Fund is proud to be able to provide 9 retreats caregivers in 2018.

    The Independence Fund provides specialty bikes including recumbent trikes, hand cycles and tandems bikes from several different companies. The types of bikes can be seen on our mobility page.

    Yes, we are so grateful to those interested in fundraising for the Heroes we support! Please contact Development at (980)-999-4217 to request a page set-up.

  • How do I obtain a copy of my donation receipt?

    How do I obtain a copy of my donation receipt?

    We’d be happy to issue you an electronic or print copy. Please contact Stephanie Tharin, Development Associate, via email at[email protected] or by phone at (980)-999-4203 to request a duplicate receipt.

  • How do I direct donations to The Independence Fund in memory of a loved one?

    How do I direct donations to The Independence Fund in memory of a loved one?

    The Independence Fund kindly requests that families or individuals interested in facilitating memorial donations communicate with us directly at (888)-851-7996 x809.

    We ask that you encourage parties planning on donating to include acknowledgement instructions and/or the name of your loved one enclosed with their gift:

    i.e. enclosed with their check or included in the “Optional additional information/This donation is in Honor or Memory of” box, located at the bottom of on the “Donate to The Independence Fund” page, for any online donations. This allows us to correlate their gifts to your family and provide you with the acknowledgement. We will disclose the total gift amount made in memory of that individual, as well as contact information for sending your own personal thank you notes, if applicable. Please note that this is provided upon request. *Please contact Development at the number above to request a website URL for your family’s online donations.
