Air Mobility Command Transporting Test Kits, Stranded Patients to U.S.
The Air Force’s Air Mobility Command (AMC) is this week delivering its ninth shipment of COVID-19 test kits from Italy, the Air Force announced last week in a news story. As of last week, AMC had brought 3.5 million test kits to Memphis for national distribution.
The command is also bringing home some Americans who have been stuck overseas due to the coronavirus. It has brought 350 American citizens home so far from areas such as Panama and Colombia. It is also helping deliver medical equipment across the country.
“Our national response to COVID-19 is an all-hands-on-deck effort, and Air Mobility Command is doing its part to support this fight,” Lt. Gen. Jon T. Thomas said. “Through our active reserve and international guard components, we stand ready to do everything possible to mitigate the effects of the outbreak and ensure we continue to execute rapid global mobility.”
