Working alongside facility staff members, Indiana National Guard troops from the 381st Military Police Company have helped Food Bank of Northwest Indiana pack 44,780 pounds of food since April 4.
Due to social distancing policy keeping volunteers at home, Gov. Eric J. Holcomb activated the Indiana Citizen-Soldiers to deploy resources at an expedited pace.
“I can’t stress enough how critical a partnership this has been and how much this means to the community,” said Victor Garcia, executive director of the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana. “They’ve accomplished so much work in a week when we thought it was going to take two weeks to complete,” he said in an Army article.
