The Independence Fund’s Adaptive Sports Program provides wounded Veterans with improved physical and mental well-being, as well as increased independence, purpose, and social interaction. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, “recent studies indicate that disabled Veterans who participate in adaptive sports report benefits such as: less stress, reduced dependency on pain and depression medication, fewer secondary medical conditions, higher achievement in education and employment and more independence.”
We support Veteran Adaptive Sports in a variety of ways to include grants for adaptive sports organizations/teams, funding for attendance at adaptive sports-related events, and funding for Veteran’s adaptive sports equipment.
We support Veteran Adaptive Sports through involvement; helping our Nation’s catastrophically wounded Veterans find opportunities to take part in sports through our five Adaptive Sports Teams:
