Members of the West Virginia National Guard (WVNG) have produced two mobile testing laboratories, the first officially approved by the Defense Health Agency for coronavirus testing.
The labs will be operational by April 17, a press release reports. The units will be stationed primarily in Charleston and Morgantown. The mobile labs can be deployed within 45 minutes and can be operational in an hour upon arriving onsite.
“I am extremely proud and impressed each day by the ingenuity and innovation that our Soldiers and Airmen display, especially in developing new ways to support the state’s efforts to battle COVID-19,” said Maj. Gen. James Hoyer, adjutant general of the WVNG.
The testing sites use Abbott ID NOW analyzer and testing kits, which can test 30 samples in eight hours.
